Ryu Retrospective: 25 Years of Street Fighter | Playstation 3 game ...

Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collection

In honor of the 25th Anniversary of Street Fighter, they are doing a retrospective of Ryu which is pretty cool. I think it woulda been doper if they did a lil documentary and got some of the top players of now and back then to really describe the essence of the fighting game scene and how Street Fighter was the first game to really set off this tournament style of playing. However, that is a different topic for a different time!

Basically, this fits the influence of Ryu in a matter of 5 minutes from Street Fighter up until Super Street Fighter IV. It?s very interesting to see the development of Ryu in the way his Gi changes, his hair style, his head band, and his moves. You can also kind of gauge the stage of adolescence to adulthood. For example, the teenage to adulthood stage where he really discovering who he is as a person as well as the power he possesses. Almost as if he didn?t really have control over the person he was becoming. You know, the dark hadou and really seeking the warrior he set out to be but could not really fathom it right away.

You definitely have to respect Capcom unity for coming up with this and then briefly describing how the other characters got involved. All the while they describe the influence of the crossover and EX games bringing Ryu?s character to fit the outrageous style of the Super Jump 2D Fighters as well as the polygon world in a 2.5D plane. This culmination of fighting games definitely says something and brings us to why Street Fighter IV is by far the best fighting game in IMHO. The balance between the characters, the animation, the elegance, the simple complexity all add up to one incredible series that has captivated a worldwide audience for a quarter century. You HAVE TO RESPECT THAT! Check out what I?m talking about below. Also, click the picture above so you can get your copy of Street Fighter 25th Anniversary! Enjoy!
