Shotgun incident at Orpington Golf Centre appears to be alleged golf buggy theft

A SUSPECTED shotgun incident in Orpington appears to have been a group of teenagers allegedly trying to steal a golf buggy.

News Shopper was alerted to the incident by Adam Gundy of Highfield Road, Barnehurst, who was playing at the Orpington Golf Centre in Sandy Lane on Saturday (July 6).

He was told travellers were on the course and they had a shotgun with them however Bromley police have said a group of teenage boys were later arrested for trying to steal a gold buggy.

Mr Gundy, 30, said: ?The golf club staff warned us to stay close to our cart as there were travellers down on the course and they had a shot gun with them. We heard three or four shots shortly after.

?Then around 25 minutes later there were police officers with two golf carts and staff checking the course.

?This isn?t the first time I?ve noticed intrusion to the golf course by youths from the nearby area. We were marshalled down one hole by staff members last weekend as they had spotted trespassers.?

A Bromley police spokesman said: ?We were called at 12.50pm on July 6 to the golf club in Sandy Lane to reports of youths who were acting suspiciously in the area.

?Three male youths, two aged 14 and one aged 15, were arrested on suspicion of attempted theft of a golf buggy and were bailed until July 10.?
